Kimberly Schott, EdS

Orrick 7-12 Counselor

I want to use this page to introduce myself.  I am coming to Orrick from Cape Girardeau, MO (Southeast Missouri).  My husband, Mike, accepted a position with the City of Independence which put me in a search for a new school counselor position.  My job searched focused on rural schools within a farming community and I am excited that I was able to find that here at Orrick.

School counseling has been my career for the last 12 years (1 here at Orrick, 3 at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center and 8 with Sikeston High School).  After a career with the United States Navy,  a position as an advertising executive, and working as a Computer Network Systems Analyst, I took a look at those experiences and wanted to use that experience to help others.  That lead me to school counseling.  My passion is to help students find their way through high school and beyond.  To help them find their passion and their career path no matter which path they choose to take.

Not only have I helped hundreds of students find their post-secondary paths, but I also have personal experience in this endeavor.  My oldest child, Coleman (26) received his Electrical Trades certification from the Career and Technology Center and is a successful electrician in Southeast Missouri.  Caroline (22) chose the college route and is a senior at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Rolla) studying mathematics/statistics.  Each chose their paths according to their interests.

I look forward to another year at Orrick and this year will be exciting events as we all work together to help students find their own path to a success!
